While he was in the house, he used to cry at the drop of a hat, but one has hardly seen him get sentimental after he came out. In fact after he was declared the winner people thought he’d cry buckets! He didn’t. So was that a part of his strategy to garner sympathy or was it all pre-planned. Never mind all that, the fact is Vindu has won this season of Bigg Boss and he deserves credit for that. He says he’ll have a party for all the other contestants soon and would also keep in touch with some of them.

Vindu Singh, son of legendary wrestler and actor Dara Singh, won the reality television show Bigg Boss season 3 over 14 other participants at a glittering three-hour finale on Saturday.

Celebrity host and Bollywood biggie Amitabh Bachchan announced the winner, who won a prize money of Rs 1 crore.

Viewers voted Vindu as the winner over yesteryear heartthrob Poonam Dhillon and wildcard entry and model Parvesh Rana. Both Vindoo and Poonam had spent a grueling 84 days in the Bigg Boss House, while Pravesh entered the house mid-way.

Poonam was the first to be eliminated on Saturday night among the final three, while Parvesh and Vindu were taken onstage leading to a nail-biting finish.

The finale was attended by the previously eliminated housemates, who come onstage one final time and opened their hearts out to Bachchan.

An ecstatic Vindu was accompanied by his wife and child on stage as he beamed with the trophy and suitcase filled with the prize money in hand.

“We all had left behind our families and peaceful lives outside to enter the Bigg Boss house. Although we were competing in a game, we lived like a complete family filled with unique characters and had moments of joy, sorrow and anger. It was indeed another life, a novel experience and we all gained a lot from it. I am extremely delighted in having been chosen the winner. It is a humbling experience, All I can say is thank you for liking me enough to make me a winner,” Vindu said after the win.

Currently, Saif and Kareena are doing great professionally and have big projects in their kitty; therefore marriage is still a long shot, but mother-in-law Sharmila seems to believe otherwise!

Ace musician AR Rahman has been awarded the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2009.

In a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presented Rahman the award.

Rahman was also declared the recipient of the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2009 in the Entertainment category. He was awarded for his manifold achievements for putting India on the global entertainment map with his wins at the Golden Globe and Oscar Awards 2009.

Legendary sitar artist and composer Bharat Ratna Pt Ravi Shankar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award, for his truly global musical spirit and unparallel achievements that have risen above cultural and national barriers, finding millions of admirers.

Another important highlight of the event was the Special Achievement award that was given to veteran actor Kamal Haasan for being India’s most versatile, and arguably one of the greatest actors on the Indian screens in a career spanning 50 years.

The Special Achievement award was also given to the Indian Test Cricket team for becoming the world’s best test team and achieving unprecedented consistency in their performance in all three forms of the game. Representing the Indian team, some of its brightest stars, including three former captains Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly who have substantially contributed in achieving the number one status, were present on the occasion along with VVS Laxman.

Imran Khan will finally get engaged with his girlfriend Avantika Malik on January 16th. A grand ceremony will be held in Mumbai on the occasion.

It was believed that he was supposed to throw a lavish party in Arjun Rampal’s lounge Lap but now, buzz is that the bash in happening in Mumbai where the whole of the film industry is expected to land up.

After the event, they will also announce their marriage date.

Imran’s spokesperson says, “Imran had always January in mind when he had announced his formal engagement. The date is 16th January. Also, there were never any plans of doing the ceremony in Delhi as Imran and Avantika both have their families and friends here in Mumbai,”

It can be recalled that Imran had proposed to Avantika on her birthday on July 18 at a private party where only close family members and select friends were present.
