Saif-Kareena to tie knot soon says mum

Buzz up!Sending media into frenzy, this affirmation, came from Sharmila on the occasion of the Censor Board of Film Certification meeting which was held at Jodhpur, India. Although, the couple has said time-and-again that they don’t have any intention of getting married soon, as their career is much more important than the marriage.

However, Sharmila Tagore’s statement clearly indicates that something is surely brewing between the lovey-dovey couple and they might have changed their mind and decided to tie the knot. Currently, Saif and Kareena are doing great professionally and have big projects in their kitty; therefore marriage is still a long shot, but mother-in-law Sharmila seems to believe otherwise!

Real life couples Saif and Kareena will be seen getting intimate on screen. They had earlier denied kissing on-screen. It is believed that the two have already shot a love making scene for their upcoming film Qurbaan.

The couple has ensured they haven’t crossed the limits as Saif has always believed intimate scenes make Indian audiences uncomfortable.

This time he has taken cudgels with the sultry Bong beauty, Bipasha Basu, by ousting her out from ‘Race 2’ and roping his sweetheart Kareena Kapoor instead on the pretext of the demand of the script.

Saif has confirmed this news saying, “Abbas-Mastaan understand the pulse of the plot. ‘Race’ was a fast-paced action-adventure caper. Not too many filmmakers in Bollywood would’ve done such a wonderful job of it.
“Yes, Kareena will be part of ‘Race 2?. We’re yet to flesh out the details. But ‘Race 2? has to be bigger and larger than ‘Race’. Otherwise no point in making it.”
Apparently, this sequel promises to have tons of action and special effects and Saif took special efforts in convincing producers to rope in Abbas-Mastaan again as directors and Kareena instead of Bipasha for the second innings of Race.

There promises to be some magic as Saif and Kareena will light up the screen together in Race 2.

Her latest film New York has won Katrina accolades not just for her beauty but this time also for her talent as an actress.

So ecstatic is Katrina about this new recognition that she has taken it upon herself to criticise actresses who show skin to attract an audience.

Katrina recently said in an interview that she doesn’t need to wear a short skirt or show her legs to get audiences to go for her film or to love her.

Speculations are that this was Katrina’s dig at fellow actress Kareena Kapoor whose skin-show in Kambakkht Ishq is reportedly the only thing that is now drawing audiences to the film that has received a unanimous thumbs-down from the public as well as from critics.

Katrina, who has so far won many points for her maturity and her diplomacy has managed to make her first enemy in Bollywood and it is none other than Kareena.

Filmmaking standards in Bollywood seem to have gone really high. Producers now opt for Sylvester Stallone over Sunny Deol for that mandatory special appearance in the climax as the messiah who saves the heroine from hoodlums. The shady second female fiddle who the heroine keeps abusing through the film has upgraded from Rakhi Sawant to Denise Richards. If that indirect insult to Hollywood still seems indicative, there is much more hardcore swearing in store.

The heroine and hero refer to each other as ‘dog’ and ‘bitch’ throughout. She adds that men have no IQ. Director Sabbir Khan either believes the same for his audience or is the species of men that the heroine is referring to. That’s because he treats the film with such childish cheekiness that you are amazed by the audacity with which the film offends the idea of entertainment.

Viraj (Akshay Kumar), an Indian stuntman working in Hollywood, is a compulsive womanizer who goes flirting around with every other woman in the town. Hey Baby, doesn’t that Akki sound familiar? For one good hour he goes on flirting outrageously with Simrita (Kareena Kapoor), a supermodel who is more of a mannequin with a disgusted face. The battle of sexes works adversely on your reflexes amidst jarring songs, commotional cake-fights, loud performances and toilet humour.

Miss Supermodel doubles up as a surgeon who, in an operation, leaves a timepiece inside stuntman’s stomach. With a story straight out of sensational tabloids, you helplessly watch the film ticking towards imminent disaster.

Suddenly the duo tries to woo each other just so that they can dump them later. Didn’t Kareena attempt the same with Akshaye in Hulchul ? The only one heartbroken is the viewer. Through a disjoint screenplay, constant continuity lapses and impassive chemistry between the couple, you realize that the film is heading nowhere. It also suffers from mood-swings as the supposed comedy changes tracks to emotional outbursts. Interestingly these are the most unintentionally funny portions where an inebriated Bebo justifies her male hatred.

What’s sad is that Kambakkht Ishq is a remake of Kamal Hassan’s Tamil film Pammal K. Sambandam (2002) and despite having a readymade rubbish reference point, the makers still couldn’t foresee the mess. Surprisingly four writers (Kiran Kotrial, Anvita Dutt Gupta, Ishita Mohitra, Sabbir Khan) are credited for the screenplay who end up spoiling the broth. Anvita’s dialogues are crude and crass at several instances complementing the literal toilet humour. There are unapologetic scenes where Akshay Kumar is (b)anally hauled or Amrita Arora gets farted on her face. Out of the blue, some patriotism and motherly love is abruptly induced to accommodate Sylvester Stallone in the script.

Akshay Kumar continues to repeat his customary comic act. Alas his spontaneity and improvisation fail to revive the hogwash script. Kareena Kapoor exaggerates and for god’s sake why does she have to reprise the dreadful ‘ Yeh Mera Dil ’ act in a self-spoof song ( Bebo Main Bebo, Dil Mera Lelo ). Imagine, Aftab Shivdasani is bearable in comparison. Amrita Arora seems to be tailor-made for dumb bimbo roles. Kirron Kher is getting repetitive and tiresomely typecast. Javed Jaffrey and Boman Irani ham hysterically and are pathetically wasted. The iconic Stallone seems jaded while Denise Richards appears aged. Vindu Dara Singh…oh why am I even mentioning him?

How one wishes producer Sajid Nadiadwala would have shown more consideration for a sane… rather some storyline than investing millions on highlighting Hollywood.

Alas this one is Dumb-akkht Ishq !

Thousands of star-struck fans swarmed the Karnavati Club when they got to know the event organised by producer Vashu Bhagnani to promote his son Jackky’s debut Kal Kissne Dekha would feature Kareena.

The fans were excited even when Sophie Chowdhary danced with Jackky for the event. But all hell broke loose when Kareena came on stage for a medley of her hit songs. Hundreds of Kareena’s fans ran towards her on stage, but thankfully she was whisked away in time.

A shaken Vashu Bhagnani said: “It’s true. Ahmedabad went crazy for Kareena. We expected a huge turn-out at the Karnavati Club, but not this much…30,000 people showed up! And when Kareena came on stage they lost control. About 400 people rushed to the stage. Fortunately we whisked her out of the back entrance. So nothing untoward happened.”

Bhagnani says he is indebted to Kareena. “She took on these frenzied fans for my son’s sake. Who says this film industry is heartless? Kareena is all heart.”

In fact, after the Ahmedabad incident Vashu had reservations about asking Kareena to be part of the next Vashu-Jackky show in Delhi on May 27. But Kareena is adamant.

Said Kareena: “Yeah it did get pretty tricky at a point. Yeh sab hota hai. It was my first visit to Ahmedabad. I performed a medley of my best songs choreographed by Remo. It was for Vashu-ji’s son. How can I forget he gave me my first big hit Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai? When his son is entering films it’s my duty to support him.”

The unruly fans rattled her, but she was pleasantly surprised when a large number of little girls descended at the performance venue dressed as her character Geet in hit film Jab We Met.

“It simply zapped me. I completely forgot the heat of Ahmedabad when I saw those girls. It will be a long time before I’m allowed to forget Geet in Jab We Met,” Kareena said.

A close hand to the Kapoor girls admitted, “They were approached by the channel. Karisma is busy tending to her daughter Samaira and Kareena’s occupied with professional commitments, but still — the two sisters readily agreed to go on the show because they are fond of Salman. Both girls have always declined invitations by reality shows earlier to appear together… but for Salman’s sake, they made an exception.”

The promotional stills of the film ‘Thoranai’ show Shriya Saran dressed in a skimpy blue swimsuit and shorts, getting wet on a beach. Must say, the girl never looked so hot. The oomph factor comes mainly from the fact that she carries herself with utmost ease for the raunchy sequence.

Kambakkth Ishq explores the relationship between two individuals so chalk-and-cheesely different from each other that no matter how many times they are pushed together, there’s just fireworks … no fire.
