A source confirmed the fact that Hrithik will, in fact, be doing the role of the legendary character and will also be putting Vishal Bhardwaj’s next on hold till Agneepath has been done shooting for.

A close hand revealed that Hrithik was in two minds about signing Agneepath and playing the role that made Amitabh so famous. However, after much deliberation, Hrithik has now said yes to the role as he knows the universal appeal of the movie. He is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. Once this is done, he will start shooting for Agneepath. Vishal Bhardwaj’s movie will be done later, once both these movies are completed.

After Vishal gave Hrithik the go-ahead to do Agneepath first, he has already started working on another movie with a different subject and a different actor. He is very keen on having only Hrithik in the role of his movie, and is ready to wait for Hrithik to complete his earlier commitments.

Hrithik also loved Vishal’s script and wants to do this movie, as well. He will work on Agneepath with Karan Malhotra who has been working with Karan Johar for a very long time. He will be preparing himself to fill the big shoes.

Hrithik Roshanand Barbara Mori are in Cannes to launch their film in front of an internationalaudience. The couple looks delighted by the way their film has shaped up, thoughare a bit apprehensive about the kissing and love making scene in it.

Barbara in a thick Spanishaccent admitted, “When I came to India and saw few Hindi films I realizedactors here don’t kiss onscreen. They just come close and hug! I thenwondered how will the audience in India accept the film as Hrithik and I havekissed and made love in the film! I told Hrithik about it and he made me feelcomfortable about it. I didn’t know him before I signed Kites but Igoogled and searched him on You Tube. Only when I reached India and saw themassive stardom and fan following he enjoys did I realize how big a star heis.”

Hrithik added,“A lot has been said about the kissing scene in Kites but let me tell youthe film is not about sex, lust, passion, animal instincts. It is a beautifulsensual love story. As far the kiss is concerned, I was trying my best to makeBarbara comfortable while she in return was trying to do thesame.”

The film is slatedto release in India in October this year.

Director Anurag Basu will also be there with them at 62nd Cannes Film Festival that opened on Wednesday.

“Yes Hrithik, Anurag, representatives from Big Pictures and I will be in Cannes. Barbara Mori will be joining us from Mexico. We’ll be screening a specially-prepared trailer of ‘Kites’ on May 15th. Then on May 16th we’ll screen the film at Cannes for international buyers.”

So far Rakesh Roshan’s productions including Koi… Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006) have been very desi in their appeal. Kites is being taken to an international audience and Cannes is the first stop, therefore very important.

“We hope to pitch Kites as our production house’s first truly international product. Cannes is a very important venue for international cinema. That’s why we’ve made sure to complete the film in time. Anurag and I have been working against time to do do, but we’ve managed,” said Rakesh Roshan.

Rakesh Roshan says that his visit to Cannes with the film Kites has nothing to do with the current producers-multiplex deadlock.

“Why should the strike in the multiplexes affect our visit to Cannes? We aren’t breaking any of conditions laid down during the strike. We’re not screening our film publicly or for media at Cannes. This is a screening only for potential buyers from the West,” he said.

The Kites team is scheduled to reach Cannes Thursday and will leave Sunday. They’ll be staying at The Martinez in Cannes.

After Dhoom 2 and the absolutely aesthetic kiss with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik will be seen doing a number of lip-locks with Barbara Mori in his next release, the much-anticipated Kites.

When asked about it Hrithik is amused. “Why are we even talking about kissing? Is that such a big deal? Hasn’t our cinema grown up? Yes, there’re kissing scenes in the film . But nothing to make me squirm . In fact I’d be more than happy and completely comfortable watching those kissing scenes with my wife, son and parents when the film is released.”

Rationalizing the need to look at lip-locking in Bollywood rationally Hrithik argues, “Kites is a love story. It’s about people in love. And what do people in love do to express their mutual feelings? In fact it was Barbara Mori who made me realize how silly we look on screen while shying away from expressing love naturally.”

This happened while Hrithik and Barbara were shooting a tough and dangerous action sequence in Santa Fe.

“We were both supposed to jump off from a rooftop at an impossible height. Before we did so our director Anurag Basu suggested I kiss Barbara since we were doing something dead-defying and dangerous and potentially lethal. I reached out and kissed her on the cheeks. Barbara turned around to ask why I had kissed her on the cheek. ‘Given the same situation with your real-life wife Sussanne would you kiss her on the cheeek?’ I was floored by her logic.”

The take was repeated. “And this time I kissed her the way real-life couples would in the situation. On the lips,” says Hrithik with matter-of-fact directness.

Now getting ready for a long and final schedule of Kites in Mumbai Hrithik says, “I first shoot with Kangana Ranaut in December . And then Barbara joins us in January.”

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has hurt his knees once again, this time while doing a dangerous car stunt for home production Kites in Las Vegas. Though doctors advised him eight weeks rest, the brawny actor was about and running just three days after the accident.

“I hurt myself while jumping from a car. It looked really bad. The doctor said my knee would require eight weeks of healing. He said I’d be limping on crutches for at least two weeks,” Hrithik said.

A source said: “All hell broke loose and there was panic. Hrithik was in considerable pain and unable to move. And since there was just a few days’ shooting left director Anurag Basu wondered what to do.”

The accident would have put Kites and Hrithik’s career behind with damaging consequences. In fact, papa Rakesh Roshan was adamant that they’d rather wrap up and lose out on the schedule than risk Hrithik’s knee further.

But three days after the injury Hrithik had a miraculous recovery. “I don’t know how it happened. On the third day after the accident I was running on my injured knee. So it’s all fine,” said Hrithik.

That’s what the adamant dancing-star says. But the recurring problem with his knee refuses to go away.

Hrithik’s knee trouble began when he did some daring stunts in Krrish and Dhoom 2. Hrithik had torn the ligament in his right knee and continued working despite the tremendous pain. In fact, he completed the painstaking training, travelling and shooting required for Jodhaa-Akbar with a bad knee.

In December 2007, after wrapping up Jodhaa-Akbar, he went to Singapore for six weeks treatment.

Commenting upon his knee problem and the recent accident, the source said: “It’s a fact that Hrithik’s knee is a cause for great concern for him and for his entire family. The doctors told him that he would never dance again.

“After his second son was born (May 1), Hrithik went for surgery to the US and spent nearly two months recovering. He was determined to let it heal properly because Kites requires considerable athletic movement. Hrithik didn’t take one wrong step until he left to shoot Kites in the US.”

One hopes time would heal Hrithik completely, but it seems unlikely.

Hrithik Roshan has always held Sanjay Leela Bhansali in high esteem and has always made a wish to be on the directors list. It is now heard that Sajay Leela Bhansali approached him with a project and Hrithik ever so eager has also signed on the dotted line.

However there has been no official confirmation of the project. Hrithik’s spokesperson has neither denied nor confirmed the project. All details about the project remain a secret. But considering the powerhouse of talent that both the director and actor are, the movie promises to be a sensation.

Hrithik is presently shooting for his home production Kites with director Anurag Basu the actor was not reachable. It has now been heard that he has injured his knees too and it will be sometime before he comes back to Mumbai. However there have been reports that Hrithik will very soon be back in Mumbai to complete his committments here. – (SAMPURN)

Kites which stars Hrithik opposite Latino actress Barbara Mori and our own Kangana Ranaut is generating a lot of buzz. Produced by papa Rakesh Roshan it is directed by Anurag Basu of ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘Gangster’, ‘Murder’ fame.

The reason given is date problems. Aaditya wanted to start shooting in May, but Hrithik will be busy with Anurag Basu’s movie at the time. Despite this, it is believed the real reason Hrithik rejected the offer is he now only wants to do films under his dad’s Film Craft banner.

With Hrithik unavailable, Aaditya decided to scrap the movie altogether. Instead, he announced a new movie starring SRK.

After shooting round-the-clock for Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodha-Akbar, flying back each evening to rehearse for the Filmfare awards and shooting for an ad in Singapore, Hrithik is down with a severe attack of viral fever.

“I’m totally bed-ridden,” he said from his home on Wednesday. “I’ve been working round-the-clock, flying in from Karjat to rehearse. Then I also took off for Singpaore.

All the time I had high fever and was keeping it down with paracetemol tablets. Today is the first time when I’m resting. Post-Saif all of us really need to take care of ourselves,” whispers Hrithik softly.

Lately Hrithik has allowed himself to be self-indulgent with his food habits. “I was so much into being well-toned for Dhoom 2, I decided to give my body a holiday. I splurged for a while. But then I needed to get back into shape.

Therefore after shooting, rehearsing for my Filmfare performance, I was also going to the gym daily. On top of all this, Ashutosh Gowariker hadn’t warned me that we’d be doing sword-fighting sequences during the last twenty days when I was in and out of Mumbai and Karjat.

All this has taken its toll. I’m completely exhausted and burning with a fever.”

He brightens up while speaking about his role as Akbar. “I’ve enjoyed playing everyone from Rohit in Koi…Mil Gaya to Aryan in Dhoom 2. But playing Akbar is a different challenge requiring a lot of researched attention.”

The Urdu professor called om location to check the accent is happy. “He hasn’t been complaining. So I guess I’m doing it right,” says Hrithik who is in no mood to sign another film yet. “At the moment I think a break is seriously needed after Jodha-Akbar. We must learn to listen to warning signals from the body.”>
