Synopsis:

In Ankert University, California, Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) is the name of that dream everyone wished came true. The most beautiful girl on campus, she makes hearts flutter like leaves in the wind. A snap of her fingers and a line of boys, waiting on her every whim. Everybody Loves Alisha!

It is no surprise then that Abhay (Uday Chopra) loves her too. More than his computer programs and MAC stores he thinks of Alisha. Who is Abhay? Abhay is a nerdy, awkward, socially challenged, bespectacled geek of the college who is so far removed from her world that she doesn’t even know that people like him actually exist.

This is a love story of impossible proportions, how can a man like Abhay ever hope to be with a woman like Alisha, and therein lies the story…

Kareena looks much MUCH better than what she did in Tashan though the ringlets remind us of her in the disastrous film. Looks like she has started eating finally!

Now here is a story that has a great potential as the foundation of a film that can take the audience for an extremely hilarious ride.

But then a wait and watch approach has to be adopted as we have seen lots of great story ideas being destroyed with weak screen plays and lack of clear vision of the directors.

The development of the story and the turning point of ‘Golmal Returns’ is in the letter written by Ekta played by Kareena Kapoor to a person named Anthony Gonsalves who actually does not exist but is made up by her husband Gopal played by Ajay Devgan as a lie to escape from the nagging doubts of his wife.

Gopal one day saves a stunning young lady named Meera played by Celina Jaitly from some goons on his way back from office and thus gets stuck in a yacht for the night due to some reasons.

After reaching home the next day, he is confronted by his wife Ekta who already is very much suspicious about her husband flirting with the girls in his office and is a dedicated viewer of all the Saas bahu serials.

Upon questioning by his wife and knowing that whatever he says, it will be very hard to make her believe that he was not into anything with any other girl, Gopal invents the character of a fictitious friend and names him Antony Gonsalves.

He tells Ekta that he had spent the night with his friend.

Ekta still find hard to digest Gopal’s story and decides to write to Antony requesting him to come to the house and visit her.

Now Gopal in order to end the whole Antony Gonsalves episode once and for all convinces one of his juniors Laxman played by Shreyas Talpade to pretend that he is Anthony and visit his wife.

Laxman goes ahead with Gopal’s plan but somewhere else the letter which was sent to an assumed address unbelievably turns out to be real.

To give more trouble to Gopal, a dead body is found at the same place in which he had saved Meera.

Maadhav, the investigating officer played by Arshad Waarsi enters the frame.

He is the boyfriend of Esha who is Gopal’s sister and does not like his girlfriend’s brother.

Madhav finds out that Gopal was missing from home the very same night the murder took place and the dead person is also an employee of his company.

There is also the character called Lucky (Tusshar Kappor) caught up amid the chaos started off by the investigating officer. He is the brother in law of Gopal and is considered as a dumb guy.

The other actors in the film are Amrita Arora, Anjana Sukhani, Mushesh Tiwari, Vrajesh Hirjee, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar and Murli Sharma.

‘Golmal Returns’ is directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Dhilin Mehta under the banner of Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.

Pritam Chakraborty is the music director of this film to be released on October 31.
