Scriptwriter Suchita Bhhatia is outraged at the treatment that YRF has given her. The new director who is just starting out in showbiz is saying that the story of New York is identical to a script that she had narrated to the studio around three years ago. She is saying that the studio used her script and made it into a movie without giving her any credit. She is now demanding an explanation.
Suchita says that she had written to Aditya Chopra three years ago with two stories that she had on her mind. Aditya had liked the idea and had referred her to Arjun Sablok. When she narrated the stories to Arjun Sablok, he was very happy with them but did not revert to her and she gave up.
Suchita said that it was three years after this incident that she realised what had happened. She saw New York and felt a sense of betrayal, they haven’t even given her any credit, she says.
She insists that the script has been registered with the Writer’s Association in 2006. Suchita has filed a complaint with the Association and has written to Aditya Chopra about this. Reportedly, the studio has not gotten back to her with any response.
Kabir Khan, the director of New York is very angry with what has occurred. He has gone on record saying that this is an act of cheap publicity and is wondering why Suchita wants attention now since the promos and synopsis of New York have been out since 2008.
