The face of Indian cinema, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has turned down an Australian University’s offer to confer on him an honorary doctorate. The Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, had offered Bachchan a doctorate for his contribution to the world of entertainment.
The actor had earlier agreed to accept the honour, but decided against it after the recent racial attacks on Indians in Australia. “I have been witnessing with dismay and shock the recent violent attacks on Indian students in Australia,’’ he wrote on his blog. “One of them, as is apparent from the coverage, lies in a hospital in a critical condition.’’
