Mallika Sherawat To Play Naagin, a Hollywood Director

Mallika Sherawat will play the lead role in “Naagin – The Snake Woman” which is the first Hindi movie to be directed by a Hollywood director! After disappearing God knows where for a few months, Mallika Sherawat has surfaced amid reports of her playing a snake. The slithery vamp will play the lead in the latest Naagin movie wihch will be noted by audiences also for being the first Bollyw movie to be directed by Holywood professional.

Jennifer Lynch, daughter of four time Oscar nominee David Lynch, is all set to shoot the movie about a subject that has always intrigued the West the ancient myth concerning the Nag-Naagin (snakes) relationship. His daughter’s film is being produced by Ratan Jain of Venus Records and Tapes is co producing it with Govind Menon and Vikram Singh.

Western view of India snakes and snakes charmers. David Lynch is known for making such movies as Mulholland Drive, which had an unconventional ending, to put it politely. However, the surreal film, which starred Naomi Watts, was very well received and made Lynch a major Hollywood name.

A statement from Jain’s company said, “Venus is known for its commercial family entertainers. There is lot of work happening between Hollywood and Bollywood and the movie with Jennifer starring Mllika is a step towards it”.

Commenting upon Mallika, he said, “It was a wonderful experience working with Mallika in “Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam”. Hence it was natural that we take it further. She is a thorough professional. I hope that with this movie, Venus will be associated with more international movies in the near future”.

The movie aslo stars Irfan Khan. He will play a cop who has been given the task to pin down the Naagin and destory her powers. Jannifer’s last movie “SurveillancE”, starring Bill Pullman and Julia Ormand, was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May current year.

Naagin promises to improve the usual Bollywood special effects and says this will be done by Robert Kurtzman, who was worked with Quentin Tarantiono. Madhu Ambat and Hollywood sound effects specialist Patrick Girardi are also a part of the project”.

The shooting starts at various locations and sets, in the last week of July, in a start to finish schedule. Casting is currently on for the rest of the parts in the movie. Hollywood’s special effects wizard Robert Kurtzman has been roped into create unbelievable graphics for the movie.
