Are Shahid Kapur and Sania Mirza a hot and happening pair?

Mumbai-based tabloid Mid-Day at least believes so.

Two diligent reporters of the tabloid got Shahid to admit that it was indeed him and Sania whom people had seen together at Bangalore’s Windsor Sheraton.

“Yes, we did meet over dinner on Tuesday night, but we were in a group. My friend Shriram and a couple more friends were with us. We had dinner at the hotel I am staying in and people must have seen her entering. That’s how people must have thought we had something romantic happening. After dinner, Sania went back and Shriram and I spent the night catching up on our lives in my room,” Shahid said.

But the actor denied that he had wended his way there to cosy up with Sania, saying that it was rather his friend who brought him to the city. “I have known Shriram for 15 years. He has just bought a house and had invited me for a housewarming party. It’s difficult to stay at someone’s home when he has a family, so I am staying at a hotel near Shriram’s house,” Shahid said.

The story did not end there, though. Mid-Day even claimed to have ferreted out details of an after-dinner rendezvous between the pair.

With the ever-present bellboy and guest ready to dish the “dirt”, the paper went so far as to report that “Sania went to Shahid’s room, 3044, on the third floor, after dinner on Tuesday. Her arrival was noted by a bellboy and a guest who stayed across. According to the bellboy, Shahid’s friend left the room soon after Sania walked in. She was there for a while. A neighbour said he saw a ‘Don’t disturb’ card dangling from the doorknob.”
